Experienced Carpenter – ICF & Concrete Forming

About Hollyhock Construction

Hollyhock Construction is a COR-certified residential construction company specializing in ICF construction, concrete forming, foundations, and carpentry.

Our work includes ICF foundations and walls, concrete forming, grade beams, footings, residential structural work, renovations, additions, decks, and general carpentry.

We are looking for a highly capable, hands-on carpenter with strong construction experience, preferably with concrete forming, ICF, foundations, or similar residential construction work. This is a production role, not a management or site supervisor position. The right person should be able to work safely, stay productive, and contribute directly on active job sites.

Position Details

  • Job Title: Experienced Carpenter – ICF & Concrete Forming
  • Position Type: Full-time, permanent
  • Wage: Competitive hourly wage based on relevant construction experience, forming/carpentry ability, tool knowledge, reliability, and demonstrated hands-on skill
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week
  • Overtime: Occasional overtime may be requested based on project needs and will be paid at the applicable overtime rate
  • Benefits: Group benefits, including extended health, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage, and life insurance, after the eligibility period

Responsibilities

  • Build and assist with ICF foundations, ICF walls, concrete forms, grade beams, footings, and related foundation work
  • Set up, brace, align, strip, clean, and prepare formwork and ICF systems
  • Assist with concrete prep, pours, placement, vibration, finishing support, stripping, and site cleanup
  • Measure, cut, assemble, install, and adjust wood, formwork, bracing, ICF blocks, and other construction materials
  • Use hand tools, power tools, saws, drills, levels, nailers, concrete tools, and other common construction equipment safely
  • Read and follow basic drawings, layouts, measurements, site instructions, and supervisor direction
  • Load, unload, carry, stage, and organize materials on site
  • Help with site prep, protection, cleanup, and general construction tasks as required
  • Support rough carpentry, backing, blocking, framing, decks, additions, and renovation work when needed
  • Work with the site supervisor and crew to keep work moving safely and efficiently
  • Follow company safety procedures, PPE requirements, Safe Job Procedures, and COR/site safety expectations

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on construction experience required
  • Experience with concrete forming, ICF, foundations, footings, grade beams, or similar work is strongly preferred
  • Carpentry experience required, especially rough carpentry, layout, measuring, cutting, assembling, and installation work
  • Ability to work productively without constant supervision
  • Comfortable with physical outdoor construction work in changing weather conditions
  • Strong practical knowledge of hand tools, power tools, measurements, layout, and basic construction sequencing
  • Able to follow drawings, measurements, instructions, and site direction
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence required
  • Reliable personal vehicle / transportation to job sites is mandatory
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English for safety instructions, task direction, and daily jobsite coordination
  • Physically capable of lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working on active construction sites
  • Basic PPE required: hardhat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and appropriate work clothing
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

Preferred Assets

  • Experience with ICF construction
  • Experience with residential foundations, concrete forming, grade beams, and footings
  • Red Seal Carpenter certification or apprenticeship experience
  • Ability to read residential drawings and work from measurements/layouts
  • Own basic carpentry tools
  • Experience working safely on active residential construction sites
